He was predeceased by : his wife Ruby; his son David Johnston; and his daughter-in-law Teri Johnston. He is survived by : his sons, Tommy Johnston (Susan) of Story and Ernie Johnston (Lisa) of Story; and his grandchildren, Sarah Tidwell, Ryan Tidwell, Stephen Johnston, Coral Johnston, Taylor Johnston, Jared Gardner, Jessica Johnston, Jaime Johnston and Stacee Johnston. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prairie Grove Church or S & L Fire Department.
