He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ellis and Bessie Lee Persons; and his wife Rona Jean Persons. He is survived by: his sons, Rodney Persons, Billy Joe "Joey" Persons Jr. and Greg Persons; and his brothers, Donald Persons (Brenda) and Gerald Persons. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
