He was predeceased by: his parents, Pershing John and Anna Bell Burns Carper. He is survived by: his spouse Annette Halley Carper; his children, John Paul Carper of White Hall and Teresa Ricks (Gary) of Guthrie; his siblings, Judy McInvale of Stuttgart, Bobby Joe Carper of Stuttgart and Ricky Carper of Coleman; and also Cessily Putt of Stuttgart. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
