He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Jones Newby and Trilla Templeton Newby; his siblings, Thomas, Eugene, W. L. Newby and Betty Fuller; and his sons, Donald and Frankie Newby.

He is survived by: his wife Maxine Fortenberry Newby; his son Henry Newby, Jr. (Annette) of Stuttgart; his grandchildren, Mallory Hardwick (Ethan), Amanda Grabert (Brian) and Weston Newby; his great grandchildren, Noah Hardwick, Sidney Grace and Jack Henry Grabert; and his brother Carl D Newby (Nita) of Brinkley.
