She was predeceased by: her parents, Dan W. Staples and Beatrice Staples; and her sisters, Viola Staples of Memphis and Pinkie Young of Little Rock. She is survived by: her children, Orin Steele, Jennifer Steele and Danny Steele (Melinda); her siblings, Lillie Reed (Wardell), Mae Staples, Shirley Ann Staples, Kathleen Dans (Dewayne), D. W. Staples, Dossie Staples, Dan Staples, David Staples and Dale Staples (Tonya); her grandchildren, Jenquetta Smith, James Vincent, II, Danny Staples, Jr. and Makenna Steele; her great grandchildren, Jada Smith and Arianna Vincent; and her close friend Lene Smith. She is also survived by nephews nieces and friends.
