He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence L. Goodbar and Iona Abbott Goodbar; and his siblings, Joe Goodbar and Joyce Spears. He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth Goodbar; his brothers, Clyde Goodbar (Rebecca) of El Paso and James Goodbar (Susan) of Bartlett, Tennessee; his sister-in-law Maudie Riley; and his siblings' children, Ricky Hess, David Riley, Michael Riley, Joe Vinson, Robert Spears, Jason Goodbar, Stacey Choate, Jennifer Nix, Jamie Rueper and Hanna Goodbar.
