Giles Joseph Isabey Obituary
It is with great sadness that the Isabey Family announces the passing of Giles Isabey, a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
During his lifetime Giles loved to spend time with his beloved wife Betty in their winter home in Mesa, AZ. Giles could be found chasing tennis balls on the courts, riding his golf cart down the fairway looking for his golf ball, or cruising the Arizona Highways on his Honda Goldwing – his favourite passion. He might not have been a 4.0 tennis player like Betty, or a master golfer, but there wasn't a machine that Giles couldn't drive like a Champ.
Giles was born in Sioux Lookout, ON on October 1, 1941 to Eola and Constant Isabey. Constant and Eola Isabey moved to Sioux Lookout to become the General Motors/Chevrolet Car Dealer. Giles grew up working in all departments of the dealership and eventually took the reins when Constant and Eola retired to Kelowna, BC in 1966. Giles, the ultimate entrepreneur, saw an opportunity in the bulk fuel business. Along with running a Car Dealership Giles expanded the bulk fuel business with Shell Oil delivering fuel all over Northwestern Ontario. Giles also partnered with one of his best friends creating a Mini Storage Business, Car Wash Business, and Propane Station Business. Giles was also a proud member of the Sioux Lookout Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.
Betty and Giles moved to Kelowna, BC in 2015 making the trips to Mesa in their Coach much easier. Giles loved driving his Newmar Essex Coach to Mesa each year with Betty stopping at every Casino along the way. Betty and Giles spent over 25 years in Mesa, AZ golfing, playing tennis, cruising on the Goldwing, and most importantly socializing over "Happy Hour" with the many great friends they made over the years.
Giles continued to spend his winters in Mesa after Betty passed on April 29, 2020. Betty and Giles are survived by their children Keith Isabey, Kevin Isabey, and Lorelei Isabey (Robert Sabatini). They are also survived by their grandchildren Tristan Sabatini, Jonah Sabatini, Lauren Isabey, and Matthew Isabey.
