He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold and Clara Koivuniemi, Sr. (Hoff); and his brother-in-law Mike Berg. He is survived by: his siblings, Bonnie Koivuniemi of Mesa, AZ, Sharon Hall (Gary) of Mesa, AZ, Darlene Anderson (Paul) of Sparta, Kathy Haynes (Lee) of Marquette and Harold "Butch" Koivuniemi, Jr. of Negaunee. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
