He was predeceased by: his parents, John Balster and Albina Balster (Heitkamp); his former wife Karen Schmidt Balster; his son John Balster; his siblings, Rita Kinderman, Werner Balster and Lester Balster; and his sister-in-law Rae Ann Balster.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Gaylor Balster; his children, Scott Balster (Shannon), Sheryl Sarna (Michael) and Amy Gulbranson (Scott); his grandchildren, Evan, Jacob, Annika Balster, John, Ashley, Koby, Willow Sarna, Sarah, Benjamin, Abigail, Tilly and Zachary Gulbranson; his siblings, Harold Balster (Shirley), Dennis Balster (Beverly), Margie Boeckman (Terry), Delbert Balster (Beatrice) and Bernice Liening (Eugene); his siblings-in-law, Elsie Balster and Robert Kinderman; and also, Mark, Patricia, William Ivanich and Daniel Ivanich.
