He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren H. Bakes and Oral Rich; his son Howard; his daughter-in-law Diane; and his siblings, Rich, Donald and Betty-Jo O'Rouark.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Jewel Adamson; his daughter-in-law Madeline; his children, Katherine Payne (Karl), Stephen Bakes (Margaret), Kenneth Bakes and Thomas Bakes (Bonnie); and his siblings, Bernice Felt, Lowell and Robert Bakes. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren.
