He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Rafferty Dufner and William Dufner; his former wife Janet Merrifield Dufner; his brother Don Dufner; and his sister-in-law Mary Dufner.

He is survived by: his adoptive daughter Stephanie Lynn; his wife Arlene VanderVegt Dufner; his children, Stephanie Dufner of Phoenix, Matthew and Nikki Dufner; his grandchildren, Kellen and Alexandra of Camas; his stepdaughter Julie Hansen (Dave Hansen) of Tucson; his stepgrandchildren, Allie Evans and Jerrod Evans (Kristyn); his great grandchild Rian; his stepdaughter Jayne Engelhardt (Chuck Engelhardt); his stepgrandchildren, Macy and Austin of Lansing; his stepson Travis Vander Vegte (Heather Vander Vegte); and his stepgrandchildren, Finn and Jude of Kansas City.
