He is survived by: his wife Maria Gonzalez Contreras; his children, Maria Cadena Contreras, Arturo Contreras Jr., Susan Contreras, George "Jorge" Contreras and Frances Contreras; his stepdaughters, Claudia Quintanilla, Laura Varelas (Robert) and Elizabeth Bransky (Max); and his siblings, Estela Alvarado and Hector Contreras. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
