In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Derek leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Derek may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sam Jones, Jr. and Gwendolyn Jones-Evans.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Dante Jelks Funeral Home (4904 1st Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35222). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at the Zion Memorial Gardens (501 Tarrant Huffman Rd, Birmingham, AL 35206).
