Esperanza Gonzalez Chacon Obituary
Esperanza Gonzalez Chacon of Phoenix, Arizona passed peacefully on the morning of December 28th at her home. Cherished and loved, she was the heart of her family. Esperanza was born in 1930; in the town of El Salto, Durango, Mexico.
Her parents were the late Juan Antonio Chacon and Maria German. In the year of 1958 she moved from Mexico to Flagstaff, Arizona where she resided for 25 years with her husband Praxedis and her eight children. From here she would move to her permanent home of Phoenix, Arizona.
Esperanza was a homemaker and a teacher's assistant for the Headstart Program, where she taught children to speak Spanish, and contributed to the Mexican Ballet Folklorico Dance group. In her free time, Esperanza loved baking, visiting National parks, and even picking pinions during the fall season. Later in life she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, great-grandkids, and her beloved pets.
She also cherished the days she got to spend shopping and watching movies with her dear friend Diane. Esperanza is survived by her children; Maria Alma Cardenas (Fred), Ricardo Gonzalez, Armando Gonzalez, Agustin Gonzalez (Dolores), Elvia Benitez (Richard), Sergio Gonzalez (Ramona). With 28 grandkids and 108 great grandchildren, she was preceded in death by her husband Praxedis Gonzalez Ruiz, her sons: Praxedis Gonzalez and Guillermo Gonzalez, daughter in laws: Cicilia Lucero and Marcy Gonzalez, grandchildren: Richard Gonzalez, Amanda Colmenero, and Armando Garcia.
Esperanza Gonzalez Chacon, more commonly known as Grandma Cita, was many things to many people; whether it was a mother, a grandmother, a sister, or a friend, her presence will forever impact the lives of those who knew her. She will always live in our hearts.
