She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Luther and Merriam Beatrice Barnes (Varney); her sister Marylouise Doty; and her sons, Michael and Larry McCarthy.

She is survived by: her husband James R. McCarthy; and her children, Daniel McCarthy (Stephanie) and Therese Haney (Mark). She is also survived by six grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
