She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Alexander and Mabel Hannon Alexander. She is survived by: her children, Colonel James S. Knox, Jr and Ruann K. Hampson (Robert) of Kernersville, NC; her grandchildren, Christopher Knox of Jacksonville, Brian Hampson of Prescott Valley, Stephen Hampson of Walkertown and Alexia Knox of Tucson; her sister Patricia Demmy of Monroe; and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Alexander of Mt Joy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
