He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Gridley and Ruth Gridley (Statham); his stepfather Clifford Sherwood; his sister Edith; and his half-brother David Sherwood.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his sister Lorraine Showers (Steven); his siblings-in-law, Carole Sherwood and Dean Hartloff (Carolyn); and his children, Brian Gridley (Julie) of Middlefield, OH, Diane Kalas (Larry) of Yuma, AZ, Bobbie Moeller (Jim) of Seymour, IN, Russell Gridley (Kathryn) of Lee's Summit, MO and Laura Straub (Randy) of Staunton, IL. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
