William (Bill) Wayne Hawes was born March 21, 1935 in Redding, California during a 6" snowstorm to parents Roy and Virginia (Steward). He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Diane. They were married October 12, 1957 in Anderson, California. They have three children: Kevin (Connie), Keith (Loren) and Kelley Hawes (St John) Brusewitz ("Buz" Donald) and grandchildren Jacob (Krystal), Joshua (Holly), Crista St John, and great granddaughter Riley. His siblings are Charles (Leona), Marjorie (Ron) Dunlap from Redding, California and Daryl (Barbara) from Elgin, Oregon. He also has nine nieces and nephews. He graduated from Anderson Union High School in 1952 and Shasta College in 1954, He worked in a dairy then for a tire company. His great love was hunting, planting gardens and taking care of the produce. In 1989, he and Diane moved to Tangent, Oregon and had a small acreage where they enjoyed gardening and canning. At age 18, Bill joined the International Order of Odd Fellows and was a faithful member, holding all of the local offices, and most of the state offices except for the elected offices. He traveled Oregon and knew many people and loved them all. He also served on the Federal Grand Jury in Eugene, Oregon and Tangent City Council. He was a member of Eastside Christian Church and enjoyed the people in the Bible studies. His family was his great love and he spent many hours and days hunting in Eastern Oregon with family and friends. He will be missed by many. A memorial service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Eastside Christian Church, 1910 Grand Prairie Rd SE, Albany, OR 97322.
