She was predeceased by : her parents, John Barbera and Caroline La Barbera; and her husband Dene W. Zahn Jr.. She is survived by : her children, Lynne Carol Meyer (Robert) and Timothy Jon Cookston; her granddaughter Lisa Meyer Finnigan (Shane); and her great grandchildren, Sebastian, Sophia and Stella.

“I send my condolences to Marie's family: Tim & Lynne, her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. I only know Tim, a very supportive & living son. I have known Marie for over 20 years as a parishioner at Nativity church & as a member of Peninsula Women, where she was the Secretary& I was on the Board. We enjoyed many a crab feed at Nativity Church. She was very active online with her interesting emails. I will miss her.”

“I was really saddened to learn of Marie's death. Years ago my husband and I met Marie on a cruise. Although we have never met again in person, we have remained close through email. We were on the same page politically and shared our concerns for our wonderful Country. She always talked lovingly about her family and her very talented Godson.
