He was predeceased by : his wife Zella Hamilton. He is survived by : his parents, Lloyd Hamilton and Vivian Hamilton (Bill); and his children, Penny Hamilton, Doug Hamilton Jr. and Jeff Dickerson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many folk that grew up calling him Dad or Grandpa.
