He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Glen Packer and Virginia Packer; his wife Vickie Smith; his siblings, Dianne (Mike McCafferty), Joye (Ron Wadsworth), Larry (Cheri), Rhonda (Dwight Crews), Doug (DeAnn), Kevin, Gayle and Russell (Anna); his children, Colby (Debbie), Wyatt (Ariane), Holly (Cody Fugit) and Hillary (Adam Atkinson); and his grandchildren, Ellie (Travis Hathaway), Braelynn (Avery Winter), Ethan, Eldon, Addisyn, Analise, Emma, Elias, Kellon, Wesley, Megan, Tyler, Oliver and Brielle. He was also cherished by 4 children, 14 grandchildren.
