She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Lee Mays and Mildred Odella Mays; her husband Harvey Van Tassel; her son Roger Van Tassel; and her siblings, Lester Mays, Donald Mays, Shirley Spencer and Wayne Mays.

She is survived by: her children, Brenda Stach, Claude Van Tassel (Jannette), Michael Van Tassel (Karen) and Kenneth Van Tassel (Bonnie); her daughter-in-law Irma Van Tassel; and her sisters, Francis Cox, Sharon Davidson and Linda Gardner.
