He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen Louise Doughtery and Joseph Klinghoffer; his grandparents, Hyman and Katherine Klinghoffer; his sister Rhoda Greenberg; his wife Jean; and his children, Jeffrey, Karen and Jenifer. He was also cherished by grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
