He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, John Lewis Johnson and Anna Johanna Hoffmann; his children, Kathleen (Jim Phillips), Paul (Toni Rafols) and Teresa (Ted Mumm); his grandchildren, Mary (Blake Dournaee), Katie, Kristine (Scott Kent), Meagan (Jesse Gay), Michael, Mark and Hannah; his great grandchildren, Patrick, John, Mathew and Caroline; his wife Mary; and his siblings, Dorothy Zipperle, Ruth Vincent and Tom Johnson.
