He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Carol Brewer; his children, Kirstin (Mark Buckland) and Michael Brewer (Tracy Brewer); his grandchildren, Paige, Mark, Katja, Michael and Lauren; his brother Patrick Brewer (Elizabeth); his parents, John Brewer and Marjorie Brewer; and his grandparents, Frank and Doris Higgins.

In lieu of flowers, Mike asked that donations be made to the San Diego Humane Society.
