“Neal was my immediate superior as the XO of HHC, 5th Special Forces Group, Nha Trang, Republic of Vietnam, 1970-71. He was a warrior. As a PFC squad leader with 2/501, 101st Airborne, he distinguished himself during the Tet fighting at Hue in 1968 and was given a field promotion to 2nd lieutenant. The general officer who promoted him inscribed a picture of Neal at the promotion ceremony “to a gallant soldier”. Yes sir. A gallant individual as well. I mourn his passing. Stan E Karber”

“Dear Stan, Neal was a good friend of mine and years ago asked me to keep some paperwork (A copy of his Purple Heart award and list of citations from the Army along with a few photos of him in Vietnam). Do you have any contact info for his sister or niece? I would love to be able to forward these remembrances of an extraordinary life to his family if possible.
