Manny, "Manuel F. Avila, 92, died July 23, 2018, at his home from complications related to Dementia, Manuel died peacefully in his sleep. He leaves his wife Marjorie C Avila, sons; Jerry Avila, Joseph Avila, Michael Alvares, Dominic Alvares, Daughters; Diana Alvares-Ward, Debbie Eldridge and also his wonderful 14 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. Manuel served in the U.S. Armed Forces for 29 years he retired as a SMSGT, he also retired from the City of Seaside serving the community for 31 years,. Manuel was a resident of Seaside for over forty years before his passing. He is a life member of the American Legion Seaside Post 591, the VFW 8679, Monterey FDES Portuguese origination, Seaside Parade of Champions, Avenue of Flags Bingo and a life member of the San Benito Voiture 621 40/8 he was known as the conductor of the locomotive that was seen throughout the community. Manuel is well known for his positive outlook on life and his sense of humor, loved fishing and tinkering around. Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church located at 1475 La Salle Ave. Seaside, Ca. August 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. full military service at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery with a celebration of life at the American Legion Post 591 located at 1000 Playa Ave, Seaside, CA. to follow.
