He was predeceased by : his parents, Arno Sontag and Edna Sontag; his wife Alice Sontag (Mary Alice Phillips); his siblings, John, Josephine and Pauline; and his children, Debra Olexa (Patrick) and William Phillips.

He is survived by : his son-in-law Patrick Olexa; and his niece Jacquelin Spiker (Roy). He is also survived by several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
