We are sad to announce that on May 3, 2025, at the age of 36, Matthew Jay Berkovitz (East Providence, Rhode Island) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Matthew may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Matthew touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his father Paul Berkovitz. He is survived by: his mother Cheryl Ferreira (Michael Devane); his sister Lauren Berkovitz Wells (Andrew Wells); his nieces, Grayson and Bryn Wells; and his stepsiblings, William Devane, Austin and Alexandria Evans. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rebello Funeral Home & Crematory (901 Broadway, East Providence, RI 02914). A prayer will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (550 Wampanoag Trl, Riverside, RI 02915).
