He was predeceased by : his parents, Jose Gomes Avila and Emilia; his wife Maria Humberta; and his daughter Maria of Lurdes. He is survived by : his children, Luis (Bernadette), Mary Lou (Steve), Dino (Liz) and Paul (Nivia); and his siblings, Antonio Gomes Avila, Maria Alice Nunes Gomes, Eduino Gomes Avila and Maria Clarinda Avila Pavao. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters in laws, nephews.
