He was predeceased by: his parents, Utaro Akiyama and Aiko Akiyama; and his siblings, Hisae Tao, Hideo and Arthur Akiyama.
He is survived by: his wife Allyce Akiyama. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Watsonville Buddhist Temple, Westview Presbyterian Church, or a charity of choice.
