She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Brown and Caroline Brown; her husband Dan; her siblings, Alvin, Floyd and Gwen; and her sons, Ambassador Daniel Bennett Smith (Diane) of Falls Church, Virginia and Gregory Malloy Smith (Jack Monroe) of San Francisco.
She is survived by: her cousin Jean Crow; her friends, Jan Weir and Joan Knaub; her daughter Stephanie Smith Hult of Boulder; her grandchildren, Caroline Hult (Elliott Hood), Andrew Smith, Erik Smith (Amanda Smith) and Troy Smith; and her great grandchild Alden Hood. She is also survived by four children.
