He was predeceased by: his parents, William Patrick Melody and Hedwig Elizabeth Melody (Bronowicki); his sisters, Elizabeth Gorham and Jean O'Connor; his parents-in-law, Edward and Edna Schneiderhan; and his niece Melanie Shaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean; his sons, William (Becky) of Eastham, MA, David (Sarah) of Lawrence, KS and Stephen (Polly) of Brewster, MA.; his grandchildren, Luna and Oscar; and his siblings, Brian (Mary) of Ocala, FL and Judith of Dorchester, MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
