He was predeceased by : his siblings, Leo Barela, Stella Torrez, Felicita Peña and Amalia Gurule. He is survived by : his children, Carl Barela (Angela Torrez) of Eagle, CO, Elvira Gustafson (Duane) of Gypsum, CO and Daphne Helmer (Mike) of Eagle, CO.; his grandchildren, Stephen Barela (Bertha Rios), Alexandria Barela of Eagle, CO, Bryan Gustafson and Jared Gustafson of Gypsum, CO.; his siblings, Harvey Barela (Edulia) of Gypsum, CO, Serafin Barela of Alcalde, NM and Feloniz Roybal (Salome) of Santa Fe, NM.; his sisters-in-law, Lora Montez and Bersabe Vigil; and also Emiliana Barela.
