He was predeceased by: his parents, David Swackhammer and Willa Jo Swackhammer; and his siblings, Pamela Shipley, Ann Renae Swackhammer and Tom Swackhammer (Laura Stevenson).

He is survived by: his sisters, Karla Bencomo of Fort Collins Colorado, Lisa Swackhammer of Fort Collins Colorado and Susan Swackhammer of Alvin Texas; his sister-in-law Julie Perkins (Bruce) of New Castle Wyoming; his son Donald David Swackhammer Jr.; and his stepchildren, Ramsey Hill and Raven Whitney (Kenny). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
