She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Schubert and Olga Schubert (Koehler); and her husband Richard Knappenberger. She is survived by: her daughters, Diane Knappenberger of Wellington and Debbie Sunken (Richard); and her sisters, Jean Apezteguia of Paso Robles, CA and Ann Beyrer of Mesa. She is also survived by 5 nieces and 2 nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna's name to Shepherd of the Hills, or to the Community Literacy Center at Colorado State University: literacy.colostate.edu.
