He was predeceased by: his parents, Mohamed Akbar Mia and Sakineh Madjedi. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his daughter Jennifer Mayan Kaylor; and his son-in-law Matthew Kaylor of Wellington. He is also survived by four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
