He is survived by: his wife Ruby Appel (Frey) of Lamar, CO; his children, Ronald Appel (Brooksie) of Pierceville, KS, Jerry Appel (Elaine) of Garden City, KS, Troy Appel (Julie) of Pueblo, CO, Kevin Appel (Liz) of Holly, CO, Mike Appel (Paula) of Lamar and Maria Streckfus (Edward) of Lakin, KS; his siblings, Betty Bean of Lamar, CO, Edna Oeltjen (Robert) of Brighton, CO, Johnnie Appel (Joyce) of Bergstrom, TX and Harry Appel (Linda) of Wichita, KS; and his sister-in-law Mona Appel (Hott) of Canon City, CO. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
