He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Carter and Bessie Carter (Andersen); his parents-in-law, Guy and Imogene Matthews; his former wife Romona "Boby"; his daughter Jeany Sanders; his daughter-in-law LeAnne Carter; his brother Buddy Carter; his nephews, Terry Carter, Rodney Carter, Steve Haggard and Ronnie Haggard; and his brother-in-law Ronald Haggard.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Carter; his son Guy Carter (Tina Musick) of Lamar; his grandchildren, Nicholas Carter (Bryana) of Lamar, David Sanders (Laura) of Amarillo, TX, Lyle Carter (Christie) of Amarillo, TX and Nicole of Lamar; his great grandchildren, Cooper, Isaac, Carson and Joyce; his stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Julie and Hailey; his sister Larreen Haggard; and his sister-in-law Nadine Carter. He is also survived by four nieces, one nephew other relatives and many friends.
