He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Smith and Sylvia Smith; his wife Peg; and his son Bob. He is survived by: his daughters, Pat Wilson (Joe), Pam Brasby (Mark) and Penny Coyle; and his daughter-in-law Vicki Smith. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren.
