He is survived by: his wife Kimberly; his daughter Heather Petersen; his grandson Schuyler Petersen; his parents, Allen Piner and Ann Piner; and his sister Alinda Piner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Paralyzed Veterans of America, Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALSA, or hospice of donor's choice.
