He was predeceased by: his wife Lois Ann Hellstern; and his siblings, Claire Rose Hellstern and Donald Paul Hellstern. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Ann Hellstern (Owen William Fritts), David Robert Hellstern and Angela Ruth Hellstern (Charles Durkoop); his grandson Isaac Matthias Semmelmann; and his sister Mary Josephine Stelzner (Charles Stelzner).
