He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard McLain and Ella McLain (Hornbaker); his son Paul K. McLain; and his siblings, Ralph McLain, Jack McLain and Ann McLain Williams.

He is survived by : his wife Norma McLain (Schaible); his children, Donna Lonergan (McLain) of Ansonia, Karen Blanchard (Keith) of Seymour, Keith McLain, JeanAnn of Seymour and Mark McLain of Danbury; and his siblings, Maryjean VanBrunt, Myrtle Hannon, Carolyn Farling, Melrose McLain (Judy) and Bill McLain (Darlene). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
