He was predeceased by : his parents, Vavra Sprankle and John Shafer; and his siblings, Geoffrey Shafer and Ali Neller. He is survived by : his wife Lindy Shafer; his children, Brian Shafer (Meredith) and Jennifer White (Tim); his grandchildren, Hailey White, Spencer White, William Shafer and Brooke Shafer; his stepdaughter Melissa Preece; his stepgrandchildren, Flynn, Bodie and Megan Genetti; and also, Ethan, Collin, Derek Genetti (Margaret), Mason and Billy Neller.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made in Gordon's memory to ECAD at ECAD1.org or P.O. Box 831, Torrington, CT 06790.
