He was predeceased by: his parents, Archibald Bird and Marie Bird (Stamm). He is survived by: his wife Barbara; and his children, Richard D. Bird, Jr. (Dawn) of Ellington, Karen M. Taylor (David) of Manchester and Donna L. LaRose (Gary) of Enfield. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
