Kathleen Gioffre Obituary
Kathleen Mary Bartlik Gioffre, 91, known affectionately to one and all as "Snowy" passed peacefully at home on December 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, Snowy lived a full, blessed, and profoundly loving life that touched countless hearts across generations. Her legacy is one of unwavering dedication—to her family, her faith, and her community—leaving behind a world enriched by her grace, wisdom, and shining example. Snowy is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, retired Judge Bruno J. Gioffre, whose union with her exemplified the beauty of lifelong commitment and devotion. Together, they built a family and a life that became a beacon of love for all who knew them. Snowy's greatest joy was her family. In addition to her husband Bruno, she is survived by her brother Kevin Bartlik (Arlene) and sister-in-law Renee Gioffre. She has been surrounded by love from her seven children: Kathleen, Lisa Baird (Wayne), Michael (Kristen), Christopher (Colleen), B. Scott (Sarah), David (Jennifer), and Kerry Casey (Jayme). Her legacy continues to flourish through her beloved 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward the values she so lovingly instilled—kindness, integrity, and the importance of family bonds. She is predeceased by her parents, John (J.B.) and Kathleen "Casey" Bartlik, her sister Sheila Condon (Ned), brothers-in-law Donald B. Gioffre and Anthony B. Gioffre, Jr (Noell) and sister-in-law Ann DeCarlo (Tony). A trailblazer in her own right, Snowy was a former Miss Greenwich, CT and a distinguished class officer. During an era of limited recognition for female athletes, she stood out as an exceptional competitor in high school and college, paving the way for future generations of women in sports. In later life, she was an avid bowler and was on the Board of the Port Chester Public Library and created the book delivery program for homebound community members. Her true calling, however, was in the classroom. As a beloved first-grade teacher at Glenville Elementary School, Snowy enriched the lives of her students with her patience, creativity, and genuine love for teaching. One of her fondest memories was when the school arranged for the majority of her students to witness the joyful celebration of her and Bruno's wedding ceremony—a testament to the deep bonds she formed with those she taught. Snowy was widely admired for her exceptional parenting skills and for the sterling example she set as a loving and attentive parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel valued, heard, and cherished. Her faith was her foundation, her family was her purpose, and her community was enriched by her generous spirit. Whether through quiet acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or simply being present in life's most important moments, Snowy made an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Today, we celebrate a life that was truly extraordinary—not because of accolades or achievements alone, but because of the love Snowy gave so freely and the countless lives she changed for the better. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, her students, her friends, and her community.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, from 10 to 11 AM, at St. Paul RC Church, 84 Sherwood Avenue, Greenwich, with her Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Putnam Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Rd, Greenwich.
Rest peacefully, dear Snowy. Your light will continue to shine through all those whose lives you touched.
