She was predeceased by: her parents, Germano Gomes of Santiago and Cape Verde; and her siblings, Paul Gomes, Edward Gomes, Shirley Gomes Morgan and Helen Gomes Jenkins.
She is survived by: her siblings, Anthony Gomez (Maureen) and Rosemarie Williams; her children, Jerome Gathers (Denise), Verline Gathers and Lisa Gathers-Beck (Kevin); and her grandchildren, Joycelyn Romero (Michael), Michael Gathers and Malik Gathers. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
