She was predeceased by: her parent James Mitchell; her husband David Scudder Sr.; and her sister Emma Huff. She is survived by: her parent Nana Mitchell (Gaskins); her child Sloan Williams III of North Haven; and her stepchildren, David Scudder Jr. (Fiancé Martha) of Hamden, Jeffrey Scudder of Hamden, Rodney Scudder of Meriden, Phillip Scudder (Kathy), Daniel Scudder (Yvette) and Millard Scudder (Jiyon) of Glastonbury. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
