He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Cates and Fannie Cates (Thornton); and his brothers, Willie R. Cates, Robert W. Cates and John B. Cates.
He is survived by: his wife Rosa Wilkerson Cates; his children, Larry Cates (Kathy), Toni Cates (Tyrone) and Sandra Cates-Clark (Rodney); and his sisters, Lucy Cates O'Dell of Arlington, VA and Barbara Cates Harris (Phillip) of Oxford, NC. He is also survived by numerous brothers in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and several life-long friends.
For the safety of everyone and to follow the guidelines of the CDC protocol for COVID-19, everyone will be required to wear mask and practice social distancing for all services for Mr. George Thomas Cates.
