He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Brinkley-Mills and Lina Brinkley-Mills (Hancock); his siblings, Betty Nutter and James Brinkley; and his half-sister Brenda Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Michaud (Donald) of Bristol and John E. Brinkley Jr. (Cathy) of Meriden; his stepgranddaughters, Ashley and Jennifer; his brother Donald Brinkley; and his half-siblings, Gary Mills and Carolyn Mills. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
